A day at the beach: Point Reyes National Seashore, 2005
Dave P. had just moved out from the East Coast and had yet to dip his toes into the freezing and powerful Pacific Ocean. He was moving into the Apgar house (named for the street on which it proudly stood), the beloved two story Victorian home Josh, Shane, myself and many friends shared for a few years in the early 2000's. Eager to see the ocean ourselves and anticipating the wonder that would fill Dave's eyes at the site of that massive expanse of thunderous blue, Josh and I loaded him up into my 1989 Toyota Honda and drove the 45 minutes to Point Reyes National Seashore. It is a wild stretch of ocean, just outside the reach of the sprawling San Francisco Bay Area. We spent the afternoon in the sunshine against the backdrop of sun-bleached sandstone cliffs, searching the tidepools for sea life, practicing our cartwheels, and enjoying a sweet and simple day.
